Lately in Boothopia…
Last Wednesday was Canada Day, and we were worried we’d have to stay inside all day due to smoke from forest fires to the north of us. So I decided that if we couldn’t get outside to enjoy the beauty of our country, we could at least eat Canadian! First on the menu was pancakes with real maple syrup for breakfast! And I don’t mean Aunt Jemima or even store-brand “100% maple syrup”. I mean the real thing. You can taste the difference!
Thankfully the smoke lightened just enough for us to feel comfortable taking Ziggy down to the Canada Day Urban Market in downtown Fort McMurray. Lil’ Ziggy was decked out in his finest Canada Day outfit and ready to celebrate! We enjoyed some hamburgers and browsed the many stalls before heading home.
And for dinner, we made things simple by throwing in a Canadian pizza. Don’t ask me what’s so Canadian about it because I don’t know. If people outside of Canada really believe this pizza represents our culinary tastes, then that’s pretty bad. We obviously avoid vegetables and love our over processed meat! Maybe it does represent us a little bit…
All in all, it was nice and relaxing Canada Day. I’m looking forward to next year’s Canada Day when Ziggy is a bit older and able to enjoy more of the events that the city puts on for families.
This week’s goals
My goals for this week are focused on cleaning and organizing my home, and making sure I take some time to exercise every day.
We FINALLY got around to painting our kitchen this weekend, which unfortunately lead to many items being displaced around the condo. It is more or less forcing us to reorganize things – I realize that I use the counter as a catch-all and painting really let me know that I have WAY too much junk just lying around. So this week, I’m going to be ruthless in tossing things we no longer use and finding better places for everything else.
The smoke and painting also prevented me from getting outside and going for walks with Ziggy for several days, but yesterday the sky was clear and I made up for it by taking a 1.5-hour stroll in the nearby trails. I’m certainly feeling it today, but I’m going to continue with our afternoon strolls as often as I can this week.
What methods do you use to set goals each week? Do you write them down or just keep them in mind? How do you ensure that you stay on top of your goals as the week goes on? Help me out please and share your advice in the comments!

Ooh so awesome that you do a weekly goals post. I always have working out on my goals, but I don’t seem to meet that goal very much. I’d love to have you link up with me to our Gratitude and Goals weekly linky 🙂

Thanks, Julie! As you can tell by the fact that I haven’t posted a weekly goals since that first one, I tend to flop as soon as I make goals! But I just gotta keep trying! Thanks for commenting, and I’ll check out your linky the next time I do a goals update!
