How far along: 36 weeks, which I believe is officially “9 months” now!
Baby size: Lil Ziggy is almost 6 lbs and 19 inches long, according to Babycentre.
Belly: I don’t even know what to say about it. I mean, I did miss last week’s belly pic, but it still seems SO. MUCH. BIGGER. than my 34-week update!
And how I really feel (excuse the blurriness):
Sleep: It hasn’t been too bad lately, to be honest. I haven’t been waking up as much during the night, usually only once to use the washroom. The worst part of sleeping is turning over. I’m like a turtle flipped on her shell, but with less cuteness and more hip pain.
Clothes: Are about to get a lot simpler – this is my last week working in the office. I informed my supervisor that I’ll be working from home next week before I go on vacation, and I fully intend to spend every day until the birth and likely several days afterwards in only my comfiest sweats.
Movement: Lil Ziggy still has enough room to give me several good kicks in the ribs each day. I’m thankful for the reassurance though that he’s still moving around in there.
Food cravings: Nothing specific over the last couple of weeks, really.
Labor signs: I’ve been getting the odd Braxton Hicks contraction since maybe 20 weeks or so, but now they’re becoming more frequent and a little painful. They seem to happen a lot whenever I switch positions – from laying down to sitting to standing – and there’s now a crampy feeling associated with them in my lower abdomen, under my bump. I’m seeing my Nurse Practitioner on Friday and I’ll bring it up with her, but I’m pretty sure they’re normal.
What I miss: Walking like a human instead of a fat penguin.
Preparing for birth: We picked up the last of our big nursery items yesterday before our prenatal class, so I now feel SO much more prepared. We have a mattress for the crib now, with a waterproof protector and a couple of sheets.
We also have the car seat! Phew! I had ordered the Graco Click Connect 35 online from a company that unfortunately oversold during Christmas. They said it would be back in stock and ready to ship by mid-January and I waited until the start of February because we got such a great deal for it (something like 30% off?). Alas, they still didn’t have them in stock by the start of this month, so I had to cancel and order the same one from Sears. It was still on sale, but not quite as much discounted. I just ended up getting very nervous that it wouldn’t be here in time, and I’m so much happier now that we have it. We’ll be doing a test run with it in the car this weekend.
Speaking of this weekend, it’s a 3-day weekend here in Alberta (yay!), and I am going to take this opportunity to finish putting everything in the nursery where it’s supposed to go. I’ve been gradually working my way through the whole condo, making room for things. Here’s a little before and after of our front closet, where the stroller is going to go:

After (I went from about 40 pairs of shoes to 9):
And here’s a little sneak peak of what I have to deal with this weekend:
I also have to post my birth plan – I haven’t forgotten about it, I’ve just been swamped at work trying to tie loose ends and it’s left me quite pooped every night. SOOOON!
