So I’m a day late in posting this, but for good reason. I was dead to the world last night, mentally and physically. I had my physiotherapy session for my hip, and ended up getting Chris to make dinner while I dozed on the couch with my feet up. I was in bed snoring by 9. I blame Ziggy for dancing on my bladder all night!
So here’s the update for week 29:
How far along: 29 weeks. Because I apparently can’t do simple math in my head, I actually used an online countdown to find out how much time I have left before my due date. Hint: it’s about 11 weeks.
Baby size: Lil’ Ziggy weighs about 2.5 lbs now, and is about 15 inches long.
Belly: Doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of change from last week to this week. I sort of feel like it’s rounder, less… pointy than it was last week.
Sleep: I’m now having to use the washroom in the middle of the night, which is a fairly recent development. maybe it’s just that I’ve been drinking more water these past few days.
Clothes: Still fit. I had to sew the hem on one of my pairs of maternity dress pants, one of only two that I own. I’m considering buying another pair during boxing week, but only if the price is REALLY right. I don’t want to overload my wardrobe with maternity wear with only two and a half months to go.
Movement: Ziggy has his quiet moments and not-so-quiet moments. I generally feel Zig lower in my abdomen right now, almost at my pelvis. As for my movement, my hips are slightly better today. I think my boots are too heavy and causing my hip flexors to become angry and painful. I’ve only been wearing running shoes outside (and walking very carefully, I promise!) and they seem to be a little less sharp today.
Food aversions: How’s this for weird: I saw a recipe for nutella brownies, and the very thought of them grossed me right out. Now if you know me, you know that I am a big fan of both nutella and brownies, so this one boggles my mind. In any case, I won’t bother with the recipe because if this aversion is momentary, I’ll be taking a spoon to the jar without a care in the world.
Food cravings: I needed a burger today, so I got a Baby FatBurger (hee!) at lunch. Mmmm best fast food in town.
What I miss: Lying on my stomach. I now have to lay on my side even during prenatal massages because the belly form they attach to the table is only good for so long before you start putting too much pressure on the wee one.
Preparing for birth: I’m doing lots of research and making a list of items to get during boxing week. Since I’m not planning on having a baby shower before the birth (most friends/family are too far away, and we aren’t finding out the gender so that makes it not as fun for gift-givers), most of the big things like the crib and car seat need to be purchased by us fairly soon. I’m still on the fence about the stroller or travel system, not sure which brand would be best, especially up here in Fort McMurray where most people don’t bother shoveling their sidewalks or plowing their parking lots.
And the belly shot…
In general, it’s another fairly busy week here in Boothopia. Chris and I are both taking part in our Christmas Eve service at our church – I’m doing a reading, and Chris is playing carols on the piano, which will be lovely. On Christmas Day we fully intend on sleeping in a bit (well, Chris anyway. I’ll be up at dawn as per usual), exchanging gifts, skyping with the parents and watching our favourite Christmas movies.
The rest of the weekend will be equal parts relaxing and busy as we do some heavy sorting of items in the condo and shuffling furniture around to make room for an eventual crib.
OOH! My cousin had a little baby girl on the weekend! She’s a few years younger than me, but we’ve always been very close. We were bridesmaids in each other’s weddings, and I can’t wait to share the journey of motherhood with her.
Until next time,
Monica
